Yes, I'm changing lanes! What's it to ya?

I will never feel like I have even a dim understanding of human beans until I can figure out why they hate using their turn signals so much. Is it an extreme privacy issue? "I'm making a left up ahead—but that's none of your business!"

I rarely resist the urge to signal, even when I think there's nobody around. It makes me feel like a retentive weirdo, but as some have pointed out:
One could argue that if there are no other cars on the road, you should be free to do whatever you want without using any signals. But how many times have you heard someone say, 'I didn't see the other car,' just after an accident occurred? The California Driver Handbook agrees: 'Signal even when you don't see any vehicles around you. The vehicle you don't see might hit you.'
I come from a planet where people like to be careful. And if I ever figure out which planet that is, I'm going back there.
