Green smoke means they've elected a genie

Ordinarily, I don't go in much for predicting the future. There are already too many people who think they can do it, and there's no point in encouraging them. But now we're being told by reputable sources to tune in on April 18th for the first episode of "Who Wants to Be the Pope?"

My predicition concerns the period between now and then. I'll bet we hear an awful lot in media reports about JPII's principled stands against abortion and birth control. And I'll bet we hear little if anything about his equally principled positions against the death penalty, war in general and the Iraq war in particular.

Of course, I could be wrong. What am I, psychic?
